There are 23 pupils in Ms Mulcahy's First Class; 11 boys and 12 girls. This is our first year staying until 3 o' clock. Wednesday is our favourite day as we have speech and drama and PE!

Halloween...
On Friday October 28th we all dressed up in scary costumes. We played snap apple in a dish of water. We sang scary songs and listened to scary music. We played with construction toys for golden time. We even got to spend time in the playground. Teacher must have been under a spell

Literacy...
For the past number of weeks, we have been doing lost of reading, discussion and phonics. We love our new library books. Ms Dunlea, Ms Desmond, Ms Vaughan, Ms Britton along with Mrs Carr and Ms Mulcahy help us with our reading, writing and sounds. Thanks also to parents for the invaluable time and help with reading. It has really paid off.

Art...
We have entered art competitions recently. The first one was in connection with health and safety in the new school building. We went to the community centre to learn about the new school building, the builders and engineers who are working very hard to build our new school. We also entered the Credit Union Art competition. We had to design an Irish scene depicting 'Ireland through my eyes'. Leah Murphy and Emily Sexton both won vouchers. Joey won first prize in the Green Schools Art Competition. We coloured beautiful pictures of dolphins. We have lots of budding artists in First Class.

Christmas Shoe Box Appeal...
We brought in some gifts for poor children in Africa. We hope they will all enjoy their boxes on Christmas morning.
